We understand that moving can be stressful, and always try to help ease as much of that pressure as possible. Below is a checklist of the important numbers to have handy while in the moving process. We have also added some items to keep in mind when you are specifically moving into The Taft Apartments.

Protect yourself. Renter’s insurance is strongly recommended. Most times you can get renter’s insurance through your current car insurance company at a discounted bundled rate.

There is no designated parking for new move-ins. You may want to research the option of reserving a parking meter. Information regarding this can be found at http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/TrafficParking/meterbags.asp. Otherwise, street parking is available on a first come, first serve basis.

Service Elevator reservations are mandatory and can only be made during office hours (Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm and Saturday, 10am-2pm). The Service Elevator can be reserved for a maximum of 1 and ½ hours per day. Please note that Service Elevator reservations are for primary, but not exclusive, usage of the elevator. The Service Elevator services several floors that the passenger elevators do not. Consequently there are residents and staff members that may need to use the elevator. However, nobody else should move items during a scheduled reservation. Moving is also allowed outside of business hours. For move-ins outside of business hours, the Service Elevator is on a first come, first serve basis.

Payment of security deposit and first month’s rent is requested at least a week prior to move-in. It is important to remember to schedule a move-in inspection with the Management Office to receive keys and do a documented walk-through of your new apartment home prior to move-in. It works best to schedule your inspection just prior to your Service Elevator reservation.
