The Sun Always Shines at the Taft


Scott D. Ferguson, Property Manager:

image Scott has been working at The Taft since November 1999. His daily tasks include overseeing everything from leasing, rent collection, service requests, maintaining lease files, and training the team. Interacting with residents, whenever possible makes his daily job enjoyable. No two days at The Taft are identical. As for the best compliment that he has received on the job - “I have been told on several occasions, and by several different residents, that if I was not in my job at The Taft, they may have considered moving elsewhere. I do not take that lightly.” In his spare time, Scott enjoys reading, watching baseball, listening to music (especially live concerts), spending time with his family, traveling and reality TV shows.

Kevin J. Meehan, Regional Maintenance Manager:

KevinKevin has been a part of The Taft team since 2009. However, he officially joined the team as the Regional Maintenance Manager in September 2015. His daily tasks include reviewing work order requests, assigning tasks to the maintenance team, monitoring the progress, as well as ordering supplies, and managing projects. So far, every day has been enjoyable at work for Kevin. He credits that to working with an incredibly talented staff and for a building full of great residents. Additionally, after completing a project he always enjoys seeing the improvements made. The best compliment that he has received is when someone notices the fine details upon a job’s completion, as he is detail-oriented and prides himself on such. In his spare time, Kevin has been a long-time member of the Railroad Museum of New England in Thomaston and has been working on the restoration of an 1881 railroad station. He is a locomotive engineer and runs freight some weekends. Additionally, he is a Habitat for Humanity volunteer on construction projects as well as collecting items to donate to their Re-Store. Lastly, he is a retired Fire Captain who enjoys photography, working in his wood shop, and of course lives to spend time with his beautiful wife and their spoiled-rotten yellow lab.

Shannette Diaz, Senior Leasing & Service Coordinator:

shayShannette has been working at The Taft team since September 2015. Her daily tasks include customer service, leasing apartments, and other administrative tasks - like the monthly market study. An enjoyable day for Shannette involves meeting & interacting with residents - many from different parts of the world. The best compliment that she has received so far is that she has a bubbly and joyful personality, and that she is a pleasure to work with. In her free time, Shannette loves to read, listen to music, and most importantly spend time with her family.

Angel “Omar” Roubert Escobar, Assistant Maintenance Manager:

imageOmar has been working at The Taft since January 2014. His daily tasks include performing work orders, painting, cleaning, performing apartment make readies, and helping to inventory supplies. An enjoyable day for Omar is a busy day as he enjoys working under pressure. Omar also enjoys working with The Taft team as they are knowledgeable and can help assist when he needs a hand. The best compliments that Omar has received has come from supervisors with either “good job” or “keep up the good work,” which Omar acknowledges makes him feel like he is doing well. When Omar is not at work, he is passionate about reading, designing tattoos, playing video games, and playing music - he plays both the saxophone and clarinet.

Denise Martinchek, Leasing & Service Coordinator

imageDenise has been working at The Taft team since June 2017. Her daily tasks include leasing apartments to future residents and providing current residents, visitors, and contractors with great customer service. An enjoyable work day for Denise entails getting to interact with residents and seeing them happy at The Taft. The best compliment that Denise has received so far is a lot of warm welcomes, which she is enjoying. In her free time, Denise likes to go to the gym, read, go to the beach, and listen to music.

Nelson Pineda, Maintenance Technician

imageNelson has been working at The Taft since October 2017. His daily tasks include completing work orders, which can include replacing lights or smoke detectors to working on flooring. Nelson is also currently responsible for cleaning & maintaining the trash chute. An enjoyable day for Nelson is when he hears gratitude from residents. Nelson enjoys meeting residents, and helping them with the service requests that they report to the Management Office. The best compliment that Nelson has received so far is from a resident who he had recently performed work for. The resident noted that he could tell that Nelson took his time to perform a very detailed job. Consequently the resident was very thankful for the work. When he is not working at The Taft, Nelson is in school at Porter and Chester Institute at night. Additionally, Nelson is proud to serve his country as a member of the Army National Guard, where he spends weekends on duty.
